So we live in the US right now, but I’m hoping I can get my work to send me and my family to Sapporo for 2 months next year in late spring. My work can be somewhat connected to Hokkaido U, while my spouse can work remotely. We're fortunately pretty flexible in that regard.
But my main concern is child-care and schooling alternatives for my kids. One kid will be 10, the other 6. The older has some basic Japanese, but I think neither could attend Japanese schools (since we'd be foreigners on a short term visit). So the idea of 2 or 3 months with kids entirely at home is a major issue…
What options should I be exploring for childcare or schooling alternatives? It does not have to be full-day schooling or childcare, but something 1) to let us work a few uninterrupted hours and, crucially, 2) to give our kids some weekly structure and engagement for a 2 or 3 month stay.
Thanks!
