I earn a decent amount in India in IT sector. I have an opportunity in Tokyo (near Tokyo station) in my company which if I want is mine. There is confidence from my management and myself that I can do the role. Compensation package is between 15M yen to 19M yen a year. My wife works a government teaching job (mathematics) and my son is about to enter college. I have travelled to Tokyo multiple times in past 12 months and my family has travelled once. If we all move to Tokyo, my wife has to either leave her job or take a loss of pay leave for a couple of years. My son will have to take admission in an undergraduate course in Japan. None of us know Japanese. He is interested in CS courses and there are only 4 colleges with CS in English and all of them private with one being local public. And none of them in Tokyo. So the advise I am seeking is, is 15M yen good enough to cover all expenses(food, lodging, transportation, taxes etc.) for 3 of us considering my son will stay away from us? Can my wife work there for extra source of income? And if we stay long enough, is citizenship an option provided we satisfy the conditions for same?
