I was homeschooled and thus couldn't get a high school diploma in my state, so I got a GED diploma instead. I sent my application in to a language school and informed them of my situation to make sure it wouldn't be a problem. They called the immigration office in Japan to ask about my situation and they emailed me saying immigration told them "they have never accepted an applicant who studied with homeschooling", so they rejected my application. I'm not sure if there was maybe a miscommunication between us and they thought I was just homeschooled and don't have a diploma to submit, but it seems unlikely to me that immigration wouldn't accept an applicant that has a GED diploma. Has anyone applied to a language school with a GED and received a COE?
