Best G1 final of all time. Can’t change my mind. Naito/Omega will always have special chemistry that is special from everyone else.
Omega driving Naito’s head into the ring post and Naito piledriving Omega onto a table that unexpectedly slides out of the way are two all-time spots
Low-key, Naito/Omega > Okada/Omega.
It’s criminal that they didn’t get a WK main event. Naito/Omega at WK13 would’ve been crazy.
The match that got me back into wrestling.
Words cannot express just how special the run of G1 Climaxes were from 23 to about 29. I legit don’t think there’ll ever be a better era of wrestling than mid-to-late 2010s NJPW…
I’m gonna say it: this match was better than all 3 Kenny/Okada matches.
The best G1 tournament
This is the match that got me into NJPW, and made me a Naito fan. I’d been meaning to check the promotion out for months following the Omega/Okada matches, and I just so happened to be off work around the time of the G1 final. It took all of watching Tetsuya Naito’s entrance to realise “That’s my guy right there”.
