Past ALTs, how did you transition from teaching in Japan to advancing your career? I've been an ALT for 2.5 years, but at 33, I'm looking to improve my career prospects and pay. I'm currently studying hard for my N3 JLPT, but with only a BA in Arts, I'm torn between pursuing coding/computer programming from scratch or focusing on advancing my Japanese proficiency to N1 and pursuing a teaching career in a private school. Any advice on which path to take to avoid stagnation and make meaningful progress?
