Japan C.O.E

Hello, I recently applied for my C.O.E to attend a Japanese language school in Tokyo. After 2.5 months the school finally got back to me and said it was denied : The reason is a lack of Japanese skill (equivalent to JLPT N5 level or 150h of students) . The school mentioned they never had that problem before. Any thoughts? Not sure what to do now.

Update (answering some info in below questions):

-I informed my school that I have been self studying and memorized Hiragana and Katakana and very basic vocabulary

-they never mentioned me needing JLPT N5

-it’s one of the top 5 language schools in Tokyo (don’t want to mention the name in case I’m held responsible for something, I don’t know)

-the school said they would go to immigration to get more details – not sure if they can do anything or what that means

-it’s 12:40 am in Japan right now so I have to wait till the school opens for more info

-I’m from USA

-Will update with more info when I get it
