Is there usually snow in Kyoto in early-mid March?

  1. Normally it doesn’t. It’s rare to see snow in the city area even in February. If you visit north area, chances are much higher.

  2. there’s not *usually* snow even in January or February. It may snow once or twice, but it generally melts by the next day. It did snow on March 21 this year. Didn’t stick for but a minute

  3. Although I lived in Kyoto city for 13 years (2007–2019) and still visit often, I don’t think I’ve ever experienced snow in March.
    In March in Kyoto, the cherry blossoms haven’t bloomed yet, but the temperature is usually pleasant!

  4. Kyoto in snow is absolutely magical, but rare. We were lucky to be there during the big chill in January last year.

  5. Assuming you’re from the US based on previous posts, but consider Kyoto snow similar to somewhere like South Carolina. The last snow is mid-February or early-March at the latest. Especially in the city it will be into the high 50s low 60s by March for high temp.
