Has anyone gone to see the Yutate Kagura ritual at Jōnangū Shrine? I'll be in Kyoto that day but only in Kyoto for two days total, so time is limited.
I fully understand and respect that religious rituals are not there for the sake of tourist entertainment–it's a privilege to be able to view these rituals. But asking from the perspective of a tourist with limited time, is it something I really shouldn't miss even though it's a relatively big time commitment, when there is so much else to explore? Sounds really special, but between commuting there, arriving early to try to get a seat, and commuting back, it's probably 3 hours invested, and January isn't warm out.
Thanks!
