My grandmother married an army soldier then came to the United States in the early 70s. She never really spoke much about her family, traditions and refused to teach us okinawan in fear we would be shunned by western society. Since she has passed several years ago, I've been trying to learn more about my heritage and her life. I have very few pieces of information to go off of but I do have a permanent residence of when my great grandfather made the notification of her birth. The address is 276-banchi, Aza-Oki, Yomitan-son, Nakagami-gun, Okinawa, Japan. Does this address still exist? Is there a place I could contact to find out? I tried Googling it and mapping it but I didn't find anything. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
