Illustrator/Animator looking for Advice for pre-Japan career

First off…. I SPEAK JAPANESE. I recognize most non-teaching jobs are looking for N3 or higher. I'm currently self-teaching and will probably round off with a short stint at a language school to ease into Japanese housing, commuting, job hunting, and such.

I'm an illustrator and animator mostly with freelance experience, atm. I'm pursuing my Masters in Illustration and expect to graduate in 1-2 years. Can anyone give me advice on what sorts of jobs would look good on a creative corporate resume in Japan? Or if length of time looks better than type of job? Anything like that would be awesome.

I already understand that I'll be at a disadvantage as a non-Japanese person, so I'd love any advice for the sorts of things I could do to close that gap a bit more.

Ideally, I'd love to work at Shueisha, Nintendo, Square Enix, or a university as an illustrator, animator, or graphic designer of some sort. I saw that the Shueisha job applications require also taking a test?? Does anyone here have creative industry experience they could share with me, too?
