To preface this I am currently here on a tourist visa and just married my Japanese girlfriend of two years. No formal wedding or anything just submitted papers to her local city hall. We have a legitimate relationship and everything but just both decided on this course of action for timing sake (more later) I am seeking any insight on approval odds as well as income requirements for spousal visa application
As for the income part, due to personal related expenses recently there isn’t much savings on my part. Maybe at the time we will submit I’ll have a couple thousand USD. I aim to continue my American job remote while in Japan (legally). My company is already aware/supportive. My monthly income is about 600,000円 and my wife is finishing up her last semester in university, earning only about 100,000円 while working part time. I am wondering how does the fact that we don’t really have much savings affect the likelihood of spouse visa approval. I’ve heard of people with no- little income having no issues due to significant savings. Another issue is her parents aren’t in the picture for being guarantors.
Another big factor is that she is pregnant and due in April of next year. So obviously we want to get things done as soon as possible. I’m wondering if that would factor into the spousal visa application as well.
TLDR: Applying for spousal visa for Pregnant Japanese wife. Wondering if lack of savings would negatively affect visa application approval
