I have a US remote tech job and am thinking about moving to Japan for 6 months to enjoy the culture, healthy + delicious food, etc.
My understanding is that I have two main options:
– Digital Nomad visa
– Regular 90 day entry x 2
DN Visa:
I called the embassy and they told me that processing times would be long unless I have a CoE. I don't have any relatives in Japan, could a friend sponsor me? Is that a huge burden for them? I can meet the salary + insurance requirements, but might be out of time (want to move in Feb 2025)
Regular entry x 2:
Would I be able to find a short-term rental for 6 months if I go this route? I guess there is a non-zero chance that they I have problems at the border during my 2nd entry.
What do you suggest? Am I missing any important considerations?
