Hi, hoping for some advice in regards to jobs/employment in Japan.
I am a junior doctor from New Zealand and my partner is a diplomat. She has been offered a job in Tokyo starting 2026. The first 2 years are language training followed by 3 years of work so in total 5 years in Japan. Unfortunately I will not be able to work as a junior doctor (would require me to be medically fluent in Japanese and re-sit medical exams) so need to look for other work opportunities. I will probably also spend the first year to 2 years learning Japanese full time as feel this will not only immerse myself better in the country but also open more doors for the following 3 years. Does anyone have suggestions for English speaking jobs that they have enjoyed in Tokyo or any suggestions for how to prepare myself for jobs in the coming year before I travel there or the two years where I will be learning Japanese in Tokyo?
