Career options for U.S.-based nurse wanting to move to Japan

Hey all. Apologies in advance; I know this has been discussed before, and some cursory research says that becoming a nurse in Japan is extremely difficult for a foreigner, and the pay isn’t great anyways. And the jobs for military bases tend to be reserved for military spouses. Remote work for an American company would be an option, but then I wouldn’t qualify for a work visa, so that’s a no-go as well. That leaves me kind of at a loss, and I have been having a hard time researching other ways to leverage my education and experience. I have a family to support, and I’m not sure English teaching is going to be lucrative enough to pull it off comfortably, although I’d jump on it if it was just me.

What I’m looking for is alternative career options that might be open to me.

Are there any healthcare workers here that managed to make it work? If so, I’d love to hear your stories, experiences, or suggestions.

Edit: To clarify, I am not trying to be a nurse in Japan. I’m looking for alternatives where my education and experience may prove useful outside of the nursing field.
