Hello, I've read a few post from a couple subreddits on becoming a therapist in Japan. I was planning to get my masters in Social Work and then move to Japan to be a practicing therapist there. But when reading more about this I was slightly confused if I need the certified public psychologist license in Japan if I want to practice therapy towards young children, adolescents, and young adults. Since from what I read as long as your not claiming to be licensed then you are able to practice therapy freely and if this is the case I'm I able to be a therapist freely towards young children, adolescents, and young adults without having to do the public psychologist license exam/be licensed?
I also would like to note I am aware of the JLPT exam and having to know the culture in Japan and that being gaijin (I'm from the U.S.) focusing on mental health career is extremely difficult to get a job. Alongside (correct me if I'm wrong) that despite of not having taking the exam you will still need to be under supervision even if you want to be a unlicensed therapist? If there is anything else I am overlooking (I know I am) please let me know. Thanks
