Working holiday visa (Canadian citizen) – question

I am a Canadian citizen with a passport, currently based in the UK, and wish to apply for the working holiday visa in Japan. My plan is to go to Canada, stay there for a few weeks while I go through the application process in person, and once it's all done and if successful, fly to Japan.
The thing is, I have dual citizenship and I have never really been to Canada (I inherited the citizenship from my father), nor do I know anyone there, so I need to know how viable that kind of plan would be if I were to go through with it.

Do you think that sounds realistic? Is it normally simple for Canadians to be accepted provided you have the required amount in your bank account, do they have a strict selection process or is it rather easy to get approved? Any advice would be much appreciated 🙂
