After 12 months of reading this subreddit, I am almost ready to move to Japan with substantial knowledge, but never wholly confident – I really appreciate the insightful information and feedback from the MODs and this community-.
Background: I received my COE last week, spouse visa for 3 years, and my passport is already at the local Japanese embassy to be collected next week.
Due to life circumstances, I may need to do what I don't want: visit Japan before the 3-month expiration of the COE, spend 7-10 days there, and return to my country of origin to complete some life's business before moving out 100%.
I have spoken to the Embassy, and they seem confident that if I follow certain steps—some drawn from my readings here—all should be well:
– Get a resident card at the airport – Embassy information -,
– Register locally – Embassy information -,
– Request National insurance – knowledge acquired reading on the subreddit -,
– Open an account in the post office – knowledge acquired reading on the subreddit -,
– Let the immigration officer know my intention to return to Japan at the airport within a couple of months when leaving – Embassy information –
Do I miss anything? Any feedback would be highly appreciated.
