Requirements for japan unis for international student

Hi reddit(:

I'm planning to study in japan for university as a Singaporean who is not fluent in Japanese thus I have some questions:

  1. If my a level results are not that good will it affect my chances of applying?

From what I researched, English-taught programmes in some unis do not require EJU (correct me if I'm wrong!) so they look mainly at students' scores and in my case that would be A levels. So if my results are not good will that put me at a disadvantage? (sorry if this is kinda an obvious answer but Im worried that I'll be wasting one year waiting for the next batch of application to open only for me to be rejected)

  1. I don't mind enrolling in a language school for 1.5 years to get EJU and study a Japanese-taught course but I'm also afraid that 1. I still can't really understand the content of the course and 2. Whether the application process for Japanese-taught courses look at A levels results on top of EJU.

I'm looking into waseda/nagoya/sophia/keio/kyushu and mayb chuo? I have not really narrowed down the schools and courses (not planning to take arts courses but my science results in JC ie junior college in Singapore are frankly atrocious) but feel free to give suggestions on the environment/people there!

Sorry if I'm not really clear in my questions but overall I'm just worried that my A level resutls will affect my application. And also since I have not apply for any universities/ language schools yet do you guys think its better for me to apply next year after result release?

Also it would really help if you guys can tell me if this is a viable option.. and snap me out of delusion if needed.. Thank you so much for your time if you're still reading!
