So my girlfriend and I will be applying for an exchange semester in Japan via university and we have a few questions that we hopefully could get answered here.
- What options do we have if we want to live together during our exchange? We looked at student dorms and they seem very strict about not having more than 1 person sleeping in the same room and some dorms separate males from females. Where we live, it's more flexible and sometimes she sleeps over at my student dorm and vice versa. We were thinking of maybe renting an apartment together which would also help with financial costs, but, based on what we've seen, a lot of housing agencies don't rent out to foreigners also we're afraid of being given prices that are way higher than what's normally being offered.
- I have a metal battle vest jacket (jacket with a lot of heavy metal bands patches and profanity). It has stuff on it that contain profanity and some satanic symbols and such amongst band patches. Would this be considered offensive to wear in public in Japan? I know the heavy metal scene in Japan is big, but I don't know if it's accepted or not offensive to wear that kind of stuff there.
To avoid making the post/replies too long, I'll leave it like this for. We both would really appreciate your replies and cooperation 🙂 <3
