Doing master thesis in Japan

Hello everyone,

I have been thinking all my options for moving to Japan in the future. I’m 25 and I’ve just started my masters (2 years) in electrical engineering. I have only a N5 so far. I have so far around 2 years on part time internship experience, by the time I finish master 3.5 years.

What do you think is better between these two options?

  • Do an exchange semester/year in a Japanese university during my last semester and use it for doing research and writing my master thesis (and of course japanese classes), my idea with this is that it may help in finding a job afterwards through professor network, do you think this make sense ? By this point I guess I will be around N3-N2

  • Finish in my country and enroll in 1-year japanese language school while looking for a job. I am also elegible for a J-find visa in case I don’t find something by the end of that year. I would be around N1 level by the end of that year.
