Studying Abroad for One Semester, Need Help Choosing One University

Hello everyone!

I’m planning to study abroad in Japan for one semester through a scholarship, as I’m pursuing a degree in Oriental Languages and Cultures. I’ve narrowed down my choices to four available universities, and I’d love to hear your insights or experiences with any of them:

Hirosaki University
– Located in northern Japan, offering a quieter, more traditional cultural experience. Also, I really enjoy snow since I don't see it often where I live.
– I’ve read it’s a good place to experience Japan’s natural beauty, but I haven't found much about the university itself.

Doshisha University
– Which I know is the best private university in Kansai, but I've heard that excluding the big prestigious private universities in Tokyo, the other ones are not as well seen.

Kobe City University of Foreign Studies
– Focused on foreign studies and language programs, which aligns with my degree.
– I’ve heard it’s a smaller university, but I’m curious about the cultural immersion opportunities. I'm scared of not ending up practicing my japanese that much.

Waseda University
– Which of course, I know is top-tier university located in the center of Tokyo, with an excellent reputation for academics and international programs.
– There's only one spot available and it’s obviously the most competitive option on my list, is it worth prioritizing it over others for just one semester? I would like to move to Japan one day, and would like to know how much impact would it have on my career.

I’m particularly interested in:

  • Quality of education and academic enviroment.
  • Opportunities for cultural immersion and practicing Japanese with locals.

If you’ve studied at any of these universities or have insights into their reputation, campus life, or the surrounding area, I’d greatly appreciate your thoughts.

Thank you for your help!
