My wife and I are looking to rent a house, but we've got two cats. If you search on Suumo with "pets negotiable" checked, the number of available houses drops precipitously.
If a place doesn't show up in a Suumo search with "pets negotiable" checked, does that mean it's strictly "no pets", or is that kind of thing still negotiable?
If it matters, we're looking for something bigger than 100 sq. meters in Nakagyo, Shimogyo, Kamigyo, Ukyo, Sakyo, or Higashiyama. Budget isn't a major constraint; we could go as high as 50万¥ if we have to. You'd think there'd be a lot of nice places for that budget, but they aren't showing up in "pets negotiable" searches.

We had the same issue with dogs ,almost impossible.what dates are you looking to rent or is it long term?
Generally speaking, if it doesn’t say that pets are negotiable it’s a no, but you still might want to pick your top 5 or 10 that don’t have it listed and have the real-estate agency give them a call anyways just to double check. They’ll be able to get an answer very quickly, and then if it is a yes, you can go take a look at the place.
I know your options drop significantly when looking for a place with pets, but some nice ones are definitely out there. The place I’m currently in was brand new when I moved in and still allowed 2 cats.
Ok DM me so we can talk ,maybe I can help I will explain.
Currently living in a rented detached house with cats. It’s doable, but it will take longer than you expect. Plan for about three months of intense searching, negotiating and paperworking. Also, you kinda have to be here, working with an actual agent. It’s a slog, but not impossible.
We lucked out and found a place through some local friends, but we did find two other places that would have worked through an agent.
