Me and Friend planning out college in japan, need some tips and corrections

Me and a friend are currently making a plan to live in Japan and go to a university there. Our top pick is the Nagoya university of Arts, but we are open to other options. We want number 1: Any college that offers courses on graphic design or art in that vain and that offers either history courses or music courses. Number 2: What is the visa application process like? We both have passports and have been to japan before, but i'm not aware of the whole visa application process. Thank you! And please feel free to just leave any tips and or suggestions in the comments, we will take whatever we can get.

  1. A passport doesn’t automatically grant you a visa, so I’d start with checking out what enrollment options you have and if the schools allow transfer/foreign students and will allow for a student visa of the sorts. It’s worth checking if your current university/school/educational institution might have oversea programs. That would be the *easiest* way in. Your local Japanese embassy might also have information listed on their website regarding visa options, so I’d highly recommend checking that out as a start for all your upcoming research.

Secondly: How will you pay for your expenses? Thinking about living somewhere is fun and games, but you need to pay rent, groceries, your electricity bill and gacha-gacha wins in case that’s what you’re into.

Visa processes and options differ per person, passport and country of origin. Additionally, why would you want to specifically study graphic design or music in Japan? Is it better then your country of origin? How is your Japanese?
