I am Hiromu's biggest fan. Call me a mark, I love this man and live vicariously through him. I love him whether he's a crazy sicko or crazy silly. Hiromu has set out several goals for himself to achieve, which he's accomplished none of. The big one being him becoming double world champion with the IWGP Heavyweight and Junior Heavyweight titles. He is the one junior who should absolutely do this.
Now comes how he goes about doing it. IMO, Hiromu's match with Naito feels like a culmination. A season finale on his character. I think Hiromu should turn on Naito at Wrestle Dynasty and go his own way. If you look at modern NJPW, there's a big running theme on how people reach the world title.
-
Naito left hontai to form LIJ and won the world title.
-
EVIL left LIJ for Bullet Club and won the world title.
-
SANADA left LIJ for J5G and won the world title.
-
White left CHAOS for Bullet Club won the world title.
-
Ospreay left CHAOS to form United Empire and won the world title.
-
Suzuki-gun disbanded and ZSJ joined TMDK then won the world title.
-
An argument to be made for Kenny who was in the middle of a BC civil war and half way out, then reformed Golden Lovers/formed Golden Elite and won the world title.
There's a couple of outliers like Okada who was a CHAOS stalwart and Shingo who stayed loyal to LIJ. But overall, people reach the pinnacle when they bet on themselves and go a different route. With all this in mind, Hiromu might have to acknowledge what his former LIJ brethren did.
Hiromu is their most popular junior. 2024 was a year of failure after failure for him with a small blip having won WTL with Naito. But he starts of 2025 with another major loss. He's been stagnant. If Hiromu wants to achieve his goals, he should leave LIJ.
