This monument at the Kamogawa Delta where the Kamo and Takano Rivers meet marks the end of the 鯖街道 Saba Kaido, the Mackerel Road, the ancient route from the sea (Obama City) to the capital, Kyoto.

1. That route goes straight north from Kyoto, probably through Ohara. Past there you’re into Demon territory. Scary.
