I am finishing my PhD in immunology and looking to take a break from the intense workload, stress and the UK. I want to visit Japan for 4-5 months with a job/ placement and accommodation set up before landing there. I am not up for doing late-night work/ bar work or waitressing. I also can not ski, and I'd prefer to be in Tokyo and not the rural areas. I looked into teaching, but the online TEFL courses are expensive, and I don't see how I can justify paying >£100, let alone >£500, for a course for a few months of work! I won't need the TEFL ever again. Any ideas/ organisations/ programs you can suggest? Would be great to hear of any adjacent experiences or people from the UK looking to do the same. Thanks!
