Shinto Wedding Ceremony in Kyoto(Unofficial)

Hi guys,

We are travelling to Tokyo and Kyoto in March this year. We want to renew our vows with a unofficial ceremony in a Kyoto Shrine. Our main purpose is to have some pictures to remember that time. We are already married so this is solely unofficial event.
I do not know where to start, are there shrines that provide this kind of services?
Any help is much appreciated! Thank you

  1. As far as pictures, you can take pictures with a kimono and hire a photographer or the shrine will provide a photographer.

As for vows and a wedding ceremony, I don’t think that is possible or it will just cost as much as an official wedding ceremony. Usually they have wedding packages, like proper wedding dress, make up, guests, meals etc. Some shrines have English websites, just look it up, but I think the closest is a photoshoot.

    Good luck!

  2. In Kyoto, I’d just hire a photographer (is airbnb experiences still a thing?) and get the pictures taken while praying at a shrine. If you want to do it in Kanazawa though, I might be able to help. DM me if interested. I could help you book a Shinto Blessing in the shrine, with an English speaking priest, and photographer.
