We should follow our Young Lions on excursion more

The Young Lions are (at least for me) one of the most exciting aspects of NJPW. Young, up-and-coming wrestlers train for years, perform in the preshow without a real gimmick as “generic” fighters, and take care of tasks around the ring.

One day, they are sent on a learning excursion to find their own style and gimmick somewhere in the world.

Eventually, they return, and it’s incredibly exciting to see what became of the Young Lion you’ve been following for years.

The excursion is a particularly fascinating part of this process because it’s where the Young Lion’s moveset and gimmick gradually take shape. I think it’s a real shame that we discuss the Young Lions’ excursions so little in this subreddit (Oiwa being the rare exception).

For example, Young Blood (Oskar Leube and Yuto Nakashima) are currently the wXw Tag Team Champions. Some of their matches can even be found on YouTube. So why is there so little interest?

Do you want to be surprised when a Young Lion returns? Or are you simply not interested in following their excursion?
