I've been wondering for the past little bit, with the talent they have and limited spaces for a 2 block G1, I wonder what they plan on doing this year.
Hiromu and Drilla moving up to the Heavyweight division (Drilla is a maybe, but Hiromu I almost guarantee he will be in the G1 this year).
The gain of Takeshita could mean another G1 run, especially as Never Open weight champ.
Yoshi, Taichi and Ishii having more time behind them then in front of them who are deserving of 1 last G1 run.
Lee and Uemura returning from injury (though I'd be fine with Jake not being included).
Oiwa making his debut in the G1.
Henare and Newman are injured and I haven't heard an update on them.
Every G1 they need to bring someone in from another company to keep the flair up, and I predict Hechicero and Claudio are the front runners for those spots (incredibly deserving as well).
Will Tanahashi have one last G1?
All these talents won't be enough for just 20 spots, but maybe 4-6 extra spots? I'm just curious to see what their plan is and I feel an actual revitalization of New Japan, so cudos to them for coming out of a bleaker 2024.
