My two references said they have backed out of being my references as of today AFTER I was laid off TODAY

They told me they emailed JET to rescind their recommendation/reference letters due to the fact I was laid off and they no longer feel comfortable being my reference for JET. Both were my managers. The deadline is this Thursday.

EDIT: Since people keep messaging me for reasons why
I was laid off because the company went through a merger, didn't do well enough in the last sector, "needs" to make cuts and decided to eliminate my role. Now I have the layoff ick and nobody wants to associate with me anymore. I've already emailed JET but its afterhours so I can't see a reply until tomorrow.
