Anyone else get a considerable boost in comprehension when (slightly) sleep deprived?

First of all I'm not trying to encourage people to go without sleep, just so that's clear.

I've been noticing that whenever I have sleepless nights due to not being able fall asleep and I do some immersion, like listen to japanese music or watch anime, it's like my ears understand 10% more without any extra less effort. It's as if I can clearly hear all the words and I intuitively interpret the words, even if I might not be totally familiar to them. Words and certain sounds I've been missing before suddenly become clear to me. Of course I'm not understanding everything, but it's certainly more than I would do throughout the daytime. I have been listening to some music the past half hour and I've been understanding each song way better than I usually would have (and my playlist multiple days long so it couldn't be due to replays). Could it be because my brain is more relaxed and doing less processing over the input I'm receiving, which ends up helping with interpreting faster input? It's like everything is a lot more automatized and subconsciously done rather than me manually trying to interpret what is thrown at me, which might be the difference. This had me thinking, is a relaxed state of mind maybe better for (audio) immersion than a focused state?

I'm geniunely curious if any of you have experienced similar things and if maybe one of you have an answer for why this might be the case. Anyways I'm going to sleep now, thank you for reading.

Edit: Corrected some spelling mistakes caused by me not having any sleep.
