I’m trying to decide whether to do EPIK or JET. This is my first time teaching overseas. Initially I was drawn to EPIK because you get more free accommodations and it seemed more laid back with lots of free time. Also, it seemed simpler, easier and quicker to get into. But I’ve always loved Japan. I’m just worried about how much money I would need to survive there. Don’t you have to have like an $8,000 down payment for any apartment that you wouldn’t get back? Also, I know both countries are safe but also both countries I’ve heard of stalkers and stuff like that. I don’t know why, but I feel like if I was placed in a rural area in Japan I would feel less safe than being placed rural in Korea. I guess maybe just because there’s less foreigners around in Japan. So I’m just wondering if you’re living by yourself as a young women out in the middle of nowhere. Where no one speaks the language like how would that go? Has anyone else done this before and did you feel safe?
