Seeking Advice on Buying Property in Tokyo Japan with UK Permanent Residency or US Green Card but Holding Chinese Passport

I’m seeking advice on purchasing property in Japan for my parents’ retirement. While I hold UK Permanent Residency and a US Green Card, I am still a Chinese citizen. My parents are Chinese citizens as well.

We’ve been long-time fans of Japanese architecture, particularly a design show focused on homes in Japan. Our favorite designer is Takashi Honma.

We’ve also been in contact with some Chinese-speaking Japanese real estate agents, but we’re still concerned about the possibility of being misled or scammed during the process.

  1. Are there any specific restrictions or requirements for foreigners, particularly Chinese nationals, purchasing property in Japan? I know Chinese are not having a good reputation in Japan.

  2. How would my UK or US residency status affect this process, if at all?

  3. Any tips on navigating the legal or procedural side of purchasing a house in Japan?

  4. My parents are elderly, and I’m concerned about the healthcare options for foreign nationals in Japan.
