question about accepting a job offer (and possibly rejecting it again later) for CoE

Hi all. I’m currently in the middle of 就活, and I have my first interview scheduled for tomorrow. The thing is, this is kind of my last choice out of all the companies I’ve applied for, but given my current situation I’m looking to relocate to Japan ASAP.

So, my question is, if I were to get and accept a job offer after this interview, but later receive a better one from a more preferable company, where would I stand? How would this work in terms of visa applications and CoE issuance (in the event that I got to the point of signing a contract with company 1).

From what I’ve read, it seems like the general route in that case would be to return the CoE to the company after it is issued in order for company 2 to be able to issue another. Does anyone have any experience with this, or have any further info on the process?

Of course, it’s not ideal and I would feel pretty shitty doing it. But, would there be any major problems or downsides to doing this, outside of likely severely inconveniencing and ruining any future chances with company 1?

Again, I know it would be a pretty shitty and stupid thing to do, and I’m not even particularly planning on it. And in the event that I’m offered a job by company 1 I would of course ask about deferral, timeframes, etc. I’m just overthinking and trying to consider all possible scenarios, and wondering if anyone has any more knowledge on this than I do, or has been in a similar situation and can offer any advice.

Thanks very much in advance!
