For some context, I had stayed in Osaka at this hotel (Hotel Kojan) and forwarded our luggage to the airport and was ensured a next day delivery to Haneda airport by the morning. When I had checked the luggage that night it was still in Osaka so I emailed the hotel and they had told me there was some sort of error that happened with the luggage forwarding service. They told me that they called the delivery company and that they wouldn’t be able to get it to me on time, so they offered to ship it to me in the United States.
We weren’t able to do that option due to having perfume in our luggage which is prohibited from shipping due to its alcohol content. After some back and forth they told me they’d reimburse me for my flight to come back to Japan to pick up the luggage. I had also sent them an invoice of my flight cost and flight information before they agreed. They’ve asked for my banking information which I gave them and told me I’d receive my wire by the next day (Jan 29-30 JST) but since then I haven’t received it yet. I gave them the benefit of the doubt by waiting five business days, and I’ve emailed them for the past couple days with no response.
We currently have our luggage with us, I ended up flying back and picking it up from the airport on Jan 26. They agreed to reimburse us for our flight because the cost to ship our luggage via DHL was around the same amount that the flight added up to, but it’s been about a week and a half since our last contact and no sign of transfer.
I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and think that they didn’t lie to me but I also know that I shouldn’t be naive. Is there anything I can do at this point in time?
