Is Okinawa worth it in early March

Hi all, i need some advice deciding if its worth for me going to 5 days Okinawa trip. I initially booked 2 first weeks in March with the plan to visit Sapporo, the Kinazawa and lastly Okinawa. I didn’t do much research about Okinawa weather/ sightseeying because i thought it will be a beach island with tropical weather for me to just relax after 2 months traveling in Asia (i know this was dumb). However i now realized that the weather isn’t really that warm yet, the island is huge and requires a car (i don’t know how to drive) and there is quite a distance between places that are convenient to stay in (e.g. Naha) and explore (hiking, cherry blossom mt. Yae etc.). I am having second thoughts if i should even fly there.. It is quite expensive to book the hotels that i like/consider and the beaches don’t really look worth $500 a night (i am looking at Hoshinoya, Halekulani). Pictures from recent google reviews in these hotels are showing not very nice weather and beach/sand.. I am not interested in war artefacts or acquarium, visiting castle would be okay, but i was mostly hoping to relax and do 2-3 hikes/bike rides. I am now really nervous i will regret going to Okinawa instead of saving that money for Carribean / french polynesia beach vacay.. Is there a place in Japan where it would be better for me to go (from Kanazawa) in second week of March instead of Okinawa? I only been to Tokyo, Kyoto and Nara. I love history, temples, old cities and nature. Thank you!!
