What kind of lamps are popular in average Japanese households that are uniquely Japanese?

I never was outside of Europe and I saw occasionally lamps that resemble what I know as Japanese ando lamps or lanterns with a lightbulb or led light inside. Are those kinds of modern electric ando lamps merely Western imitations or are these kind of lamps actually part of the modern Japanese furniture. Furthermore, what other lamps are being used now or in the recent past (early 20th century) in Japan?
