Hello everyone! I am a first time poster in the sub. Would this be a good place to ask questions about proper pronunciation?
Hi, I’m a new Japanese learner. I had a question about “ga”. From what I understand, it indicates the subject of a sentence, the word that the verb is acting on, but take the following sentence as an example:
I want a new wallet.
Duolingo is telling me the correct translation for this sentence is:
atarashi saifu ga hoshiidesu
Why? In English, the subject of that sentence is ‘I’, but in Japanese it’s “wallet”?
I always wanted to learn Japanese, I started a year ago but after some time I stopped bc I had no time. I’m 25 years old and I want to learn again but this time focus on it for real. But idk why I felt like its too late for me. I can’t go to language school so I need to learn by my own. It takes years to reach a certain level of language… How much language I can know after learning it for 5 years?
