What to expect for fee range for immigration lawyers? (Nikkei Visas)

Hey guys,

I've researched a number of lawyers now, and I'm at the point where I'm setting up consultations for Nikkei Visa options.

How much should I generally expect for this kind of service?

I've seen as low as 50,000円 to as high as 160,000円 for second and third gen, and as low as 23,500円 to as high as 120,000円 for child of a national visa. The range just seems realllly broad so it's making me feel some sketched about the super low cost ones.

I understand that it is entirely different per case based on what actual work happens and what visas end up actually being selected, but what is the general range for COE assistance/application services for child of a national, second gen and third gen Nikkei visas? (assuming all goes to plan)?

Any other services that are common as well? For example, the one I'll be having a consultation with first offers free document translation and re-applications should the first one get declined, are these additional services common practice?

  1. I think one factor is, how much work they will do themselves vs. ask you to handle. I’ve applied to some visas where the lawyers would arrange courier service to come to your home/office to pick up your passport and get it to the embassy for processing. When I lived in the US and applied for my Japan COE, I lived a short bike ride away from the Japanese embassy so I just told them I would bike over and do the procedures myself. I probably saved (my company) a few thousand bucks doing that.
