(I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to ask, but Google is just giving me research articles about Japanese suicide in general and news pieces about people being held 47 years in a ward or tied to a bed until they died.)
Here is my question: does Japan have a law or other policy mandating 72-hour or similar hold for suicide attempts? Here in the United States, we have laws like the 5150 and Florida's Baker Act that allow emergency rooms receiving people who have attempted suicide to transfer them to a psych ward and hold them for 72 hours. The criteria to hold someone involuntarily is 1) danger to self 2) danger to others and / or 3) can't take care of themselves. Are the laws different for minors? Also, what's it like inside the psych ward for someone who attempts suicide? Do they really still bind you by the wrists and leave you for days in 2025?
EDIT: I am not suicidal right now, don't worry about me.
