I'm half Japanese and have been living here for a while so I'm familiar with cultural behaviour, attitudes, as well as being aware of the creepy shit that happens here, etc etc. Anyway, I came across some recommendations to tutor with EnjoyLesson, and joined hoping to make some extra money on the side. BUT, within a day of making my account, I'm being bombarded with perfectly written emails in English from middle-aged men asking for 'free conversation' lessons (free as in general, random conversation) at restaurants/cafes.
I only set up my account a few days ago, so I'm wondering, why me? When there seems to be so many much more experienced teachers on the site lol.
I honestly I kind of half expected this and it's probably a stupid thing to ask, but I have a feeling that they're only wanting to meet up with women for chatting, possibly other intentions? Has any other woman had experiences like this and how did it go? I asked my fiance his opinion on this and he thinks it's safe as long as it's in a public place and they don't cross a line, but again – I have an uneasy feeling about it and I would appreciate some of your experiences from using EnjoyLesson!
