How long is the term for a Japanese language school? (October Intake)

Description :- I'm looking to study in Japan as a language school student after my graduation and I have been researching about multiple language schools in Tokyo but there is one detail I don't understand. Since most international students finish their graduation usually in the month of May/June they choose to take the Fall October intake but the general programme period is different for Fall intake (1.5 years) and Spring intake (2 years). I understand that most companies and schools have their graduation and recruitment period in Spring but my general questions are :-

1) Are you academically behind everyone that started in Spring or is the October intake just a whole new batch from scratch (kinda)?

2) The basic eligibility criteria states that you need atleast N5 level of Japanese proficiency before applying but is that higher for students that applied for the October intake (like N4) since it's a supposedly shorter programme?

Again the answers to these questions could be stated in maybe just one line but I just couldn't find anything about this so sorry if this is a stupid question.
