Kindergarten for international students

Hi,

I moving to Kyoto next month for my masters in Kyoto university. I am coming along with my daughter(4 year old) . I am trying to find a kindergarten near the university, I found few options but I am not sure if they take international students. There’s no email id mentioned and when I call them, they don’t speak English. Any input would be helpful.

  1. You need to talk with the ward office near your university.  Many places these days are OK with kids without Japanese, and it’ll be a lot cheaper than English language places.  But most (all?) of the time you can’t enroll until you arrive, and there may be a wait until your kid can actually attend.

Not all, but most kindergartens these days are enrolled through the ward office as the govt wants them and daycares to functionally merge.

Maybe email these guys for help?
