Almost 10 years later, I still can’t really watch new stuff in Japanese – listening struggle

My listening comprehension sucks. I have no problem during conversation lessons and I don't think my teachers are grading their speaking (i.e., trying to speak slowly or anything like that), I can understand 85-90% of 4989 American Life (the one podcast I've found so far that I actually enjoy, probably for precisely the reason that I can understand it while it's not a podcast aimed at learners of Japanese), I've listened to all the Harry Potter audio books several times with no issue (though, to be fair, I know HP from A to Z in other languages), but when I watch stuff, I just struggle so much. Today, I watched the first episode of Asura and after about 10 minutes, I got frustrated and turned on the (Japanese) subtitles. I just can't properly understand movies and series that I haven't seen before with EN subtitles at least. I'd say I only understand about 30-40%. Has anyone had the same problem and managed to solve it? If yes, how?

Also, I should mention I passed N1 back in 2022, it wasn't with flying colours, but not a total scrape either. I know the test is not actually representative of much, but I just wanted to give you more of an idea of my level on paper.
