OK. I work IT in Tokyo.
Honestly it looks like you ALTs/JET/English teachers have a more relaxed life, minus the money maybe?
I am considering becoming a English teacher (ideally private sector) somewhere nice and rural (Im getting old, have lived in rural japan 3 years before 3 years in tokyo).
How stable is it? As long as its enough money to afford tofu and rice and the occasional tonkatsu I don't care about the salary.
As long as I'm stable until I retire or die working. How bad could it be teaching kids into your 60s?
A big plus would be enough flexibility and/or free time to start a side gig etc. I have the right visas for it.
