How realistic is moving from an eikaiwa to traditional office work?

Hello,

I am considering moving to Japan, and I have an offer from an Eikaiwa, but I am wondering how feasible the process is to apply to other companies once your Eikaiwa contract is up.

Background:

26 y/o. I have a JLPT N1, native English speaker (TOEIC 990), master's degree, 4 years experience at American finance company, ~$100k in savings.

Questions:

  1. For something like teaching at NOVA, does your visa expire at the end of your contract? Will it still be valid if you are applying for jobs at the end of your contract?

  2. It sounds like different Eikaiwas sponsor different visas. If a job I apply for requires a different category of workers visa, is that easy to change? Does that require employer buy-in and would that be something that would turn potential employers off?

  3. If I do have a working visa at the end of the contract and can apply to jobs, is it possible to apply to more traditional finance jobs? As in, if I have permission to work in Japan and speak the language, will companies consider a foreign candidate generally? Or will you need exceptional skills like web development to even be considered for jobs?

Thank you.
