Does JET prefer applicants who have more work experience?

If I'm accepted, JET will be my first real "job", as in, it's the first job that actually puts my degree to use. Up until this point, I've only ever worked part-time retail positions.

I know a lot of JETs are fresh university graduates in their early 20s, but at the same time, I know that being an ALT can be hard, stressful work, (in a foreign country nonetheless) so I wonder if JET prefers applicants who've worked a proper job before?
Another reason why I ask is because as anyone who's job hunted in the west knows that most companies care a LOT about how much experience you have
