Why does this match weirdly slap (IMO)???

It's not my first time watching a Yujiro or a Robinson match. I think both are solid in-ring workers and Robinson can even be really damn great at times but this match was weirdly amazing. Idk if im in the minority here but can someone explain to me what I have been missing in them? (I strongly recommend this match btw).

  1. Yujrio, at one point, was enjoyable to watch in his matches, but by 2016, they gave up on him as he would basically just not put the effort in anymore

Anything pre bullet club id say is worth seeing some big yujrio

  2. I can’t remember this one specifically, but some wrestlers just have a weird kind of chemistry together. For example, there were a number of years there where SANADA and Toru Yano would always have a great match in the G1. I mean, even excepting that they were throwaway comedy matches, they were clever and funny and compelling all at once. Then Yano would do a match against say, KENTA (a guy who can actually be very funny when he wants to be) and it would just fall flat.

It’s like a dance partner or even a romantic partner. You can’t always explain precisely how or why the chemistry is there but it’s simply apparent that it is.

  3. Around this time, the only prominent thing Yujiro was in was the WTL. I couldn’t remember the last singles match he had at that point. He was super motivated to show something in this match. He even cut a promo backstage saying that he wanted to be in the G1 again. With the pandemic, the roster needed him to be in the G1 again and his effort level was still high. After those G1 appearances, his effort level fell off a cliff and we get the HoT t-shirt version that we have today.

  4. Setting aside his persona of a pimp that solidifies him as one of the company’s biggest gigachads in history. Peak amateur suplex machine Yujiro who used 1/3 of Kurt Angle’s moves was a force to be reckoned with along with his hot sax theme which should have led him to an IC reign at least. The man’s body has been through so much which is why he’s where he is today even as much as he yearns to be better. He deserves a lot more respect as a homegrown talent who still serves as a senior figure for all the younger guys.

Thankfully he still busts out the Miami Shine from time to time and apparently gave the Tokyo Pimps over to SHO but it feels like a one and done deal. situation.

  5. I would also weirdly loved Yujiro’s team with KENTA. They just seemed to click.

  6. Yujiro has moved like his knees or hips have been an issue for several years. Plus, the Tokyo Pimp character has sort of skewed as being a comedy act, probably more so over the last 3-4 years. But Yujiro vs. Ishii in 2014 and Yujiro vs Tana in 2012 are fantastic matches, if you want post-No Limit Yujiro goodies.
