Bird of Kyoto

There is a very cute egrette in Kyoto near cafe chi https://maps.app.goo.gl/6tzr5i16C3rTAdW69 . You can see it if you go on the side with the river. We walked by in three different evenings and we saw it every time. It's also in the pictures of the cafe.

The street with the river is very nice and now I'm wondering if that bird just stays there

  1. That bird is called “aosagi” in Japanese, a blue heron. The stream is the Takasegawa on Kiyamachi Street.

  2. You can see this bird species quite often in the rivers (and sometimes even in ponds of temples/ shrines) in this area.

  3. Saw this bird on our trip in December! Kyoto was my favorite, must return to visit this bird soon
