Hello,
I have asthma and allergies that I take prescription medication for. I did have my allergist fill out a statement of physician form listing my medications. I have a few quick questions for current of former JETs who have experiences with getting their prescription meds while in Japan.
-
How did you find what medications are allowed in Japan? I have done some research but still am not 100% certain what medications are banned.
-
Is there insurance coverage for prescription medication? I haven’t seen anything about this. I’m currently 25 and under a parent’s insurance in the United States. I still pay for what isn’t covered under their insurance myself. I want to get an idea of what I might have to pay out of pocket (if at all) if I were accepted into the program.

How easy is to get your medication from a pharmacy in Japan?
Thanks for taking the time to read and answer my questions!! 🙂
